Combustion and Emission Analysis of Spent Mushroom Compost and Forestry Woodchip for Management and Energy Production

Forestry woodchip and spent mushroom compost have commercial potential as sustainable residues in biological chemical processes for energy production. This study focuses on the evaluation of agri-food industry waste valorization, with aim to reduce valuable biomass utilization production without decreasing process quality, thereby pursuing economic environmental advantages. Burning trials were conducted a fluidized bed plant provided emission abatement systems. The mixture used combustion was composed pine oak compost. first characterized through compositional energetic analysis, subsequently, during burning tests, monitoring sampling campaign carried out analyze gas particles emission. Optimal conditions observed combustion, good oxidation organic material, relatively high CO2 production, low CO concentration flue gas. Nevertheless, SO2 concentrations are greater than those found most commonly biomasses. In fact, characterization revealed non-negligible sulfur, which explains values detected obtained results confirm that controlled together suitable biomasses utilization, preliminary characterization, monitoring, essential practices realization process, both from an point view.
